Galaxy Tab 7.7, Best Leading Samsung Tablet

Revolution-based tablet computer touch screen in the 21st century begins from the Apple iPad that combines captivating design and fast performance. Although the tablet is still a world market leader, Apple iPad is considered to have a shortage in some sectors. And that is utilized to its competitors, including Samsung.

Design and Display

Samsung's latest tablet PC has many advantages compared to its competitors. One of them is located on the screen. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is the first tablet PC that uses AMOLED screen Super Plus. This display technology offers a contrast and better color depth than regular LCD screens. Supported with WXGA resolution (1280x800 pixels) with pixel density of 169 ppi (iPad only about 130ppi), different content can be a very good airing. Display text can be presented with sharp and clear. Images and video can also be displayed with the very best. With a screen size of 7.7 inches, this tablet is large enough to be used to watch the video, but also pretty handy when carried around or used to type in portrait mode.

For design, the concept is no different from others such as the Galaxy Tab Tab Tab 7 Plus or 8.9. Only Galaxy Tab 7.7 using a metallic material for the back, stronger than plastic. Overall, the minimalist design of the Galaxy Tab 7.7 is quite functional with alloy body that is not too thin and draft-free button on the front. Unfortunately, you must use an additional adapter if you want to use the USB Drive. Similar accessories are also needed if you want to connect to a TV Tab 7.7 LCD or other display device that supports HDMI.

Faster Performance

One feature that is quite popular for users of earlier-generation Galaxy Tab 7 is the ability for the phone. This tradition continued in the Galaxy Tab 7 and Tab Plus 7.7. Although you can use it just like a regular phone, we suggest you use the headset while dialing. In addition to keeping the screen clean, you will not get confused view of others who cross paths with you.

For those who care about performance will be satisfied here considering the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 has been using the Dual-Core 1.4 GHz, GPU (graphics chip) Mali-400MP and 1GB RAM. Combined with Honeycomb Android operating system version 3.2, which means no lag when running applications that require more specs like video games and HD. Connectivity is also not forgotten in the presence of a Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, HSDPA and HSUPA 5.7 Mbps 21Mbps. Unfortunately there is no operator in Indonesia that supports HSDPA speeds up to 21 Mbps.

Typical Applications Samsung

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 has provided some useful default application. Collection of this application is not new as it can also be found in the Galaxy Tab previous series. Office applications such as Polaris Office has been included so you can edit the document in Excel or Word directly in Tab 7.7. There is also a Mini Apps is lodged in the bottom of the screen. Mini Apps is composed of several frequently used applications the average user like calculator, calendar, memo, and so forth.

There is one interesting feature which is owned Tab 7.7, the infrared port. Apparently Samsung has plans to release an application that can change the Tab 7.7 a smart remote for your Samsung TV.

Best Leading Samsung Tablet

With its price, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is the most expensive tablet PC which is currently owned by Samsung. And this is quite reasonable, given the innovative technologies such as screen AMOLED Super Plus with the highest resolution in its class, the technology is not cheap. The phone features also make the tabs look different than the 7.7 average of its competitors which only supports SIM card for data transfer only.

For those who require reliable performance and do not want to take tablets and mobile phone simultaneously, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is ready to accompany your daily life.

Fast and Friendly Tablet with a Learning Curve
By Michael Morgan (The Last Hometown)

I've owned the A7 for about a month and got it to replace an iPod Touch used for two years. Coming from a Windows background, it took awhile to fully learn how to use the Touch and I had to start over learning to use Android with the A7. This learning curve mainly involves understanding how to move around different screens, how to store and retrieve files from microSD and USB Flash drives, and how to download (and then sideload) apps. eLocity has provided several updates since introduction of the A7 and the latest seems to have cured most of the problems that plagued early adopters. It only takes a few minutes to download the latest update onto a microSD card using a regular PC or Mac and then install it into the A7. The Dexter update is also easy to get and install and supposedly allows you to download Android apps directly from the Google Marketplace. So far, I've just used the eLocity update from early Feb and am quite happy with almost everything about the tablet. Thousands of apps (mostly free) are available to directly download from the SlideME website. There is a small app to initially download and then you can view and download whatever you want. I found Angry Birds (a silly but highly addictive game) from another website (free, of course) and it runs beautifully, filling out the whole screen as if it was made just for the A7. Pros of the A7 are: (1) fully functional web and email; (2) beautiful screen for games and movies (full DVD resolution on a 7 inch widescreen looks really sharp and crystal clear); (3) plays Flash and all forms of video, audio and photo files; (4) has removable storage using BOTH microSD cards and USB thumb drives; (5) very fast Tegra 2 processor runs games and plays movies smoothly. You can use Handbrake on a PC to save movies at full DVD resolution as MP4 in about 500MB to 1 GB each and store to microSD or USB flash. A $50 32GB microSD card can hold 40+ movies. Cons of the A7: (1) No Google Market without installing the Dexter update (but lots of other websites to get apps); (2) "multitouch" sizing of screen frames could have finer steps (frame sizes increment by about 25% so it is sometimes difficult to get the perfect size for some websites) and; (3) battery life is about 4-5 hours (only a Con relative to 10+ hours for the iPad which has a much slower processor). In summary, I highly recommend the A7 to anyone who will spend a little time getting to know how to use this highly functional tablet.

My New Home Remote!
By Michael Curran (Pine Ridge, SD)

I have became a huge fan of the android operating system. I wasn't interested in this device until I started looking around for a cheap home theather remote. I currently use a computer and run XBMC. On my phone I used an android app to control my TV and its functions. I found it worked great however I grew tired of answering the phone and not having an easy way of pausing my show. So I looked into archos units. I ended up getting the 28 for the following reasons...

I wanted a simple android device that I can turn into a remote to control my TV. I got the cheapest device knowing that is DOES NOT have the following features. No camera, no bluetooth, no cap. touch screen, no speaker, no out of box google market. While I did install the google market long enough to get some apps install on my device I removed the market quickly. I wanted a secure device that anyone could pick up and use. I didn't want to worry about strange app purchases or people reading my email, facebook if I had the device laying around. While it was easy to get the google market installed and my apps downloaded. I was just as easy to remove the google apps.

As a device I am used to my Droid running 2.2. I will admit the screen lack a lot on the device for anyone wanting it to use for movies. While I didn't want the device for that the Screen works great for using it as a remote.

I was really impressed with a few features that archos includes on all its android devices. uPNP support and for $15 AC3 support. My little 28 didn't have any problems finding my XBMC box and plays the movies over the wifi no problems! I was really impressed with archos I had no tweaking setups it just worked. I can't even find anything that simple on my Droid! That feature alone makes me want to upgrade to a higher screen to have a portable TV in the house! It even supports window shares! Really impressive to use as a portable movie player in the house.

While I don't beleive you should ever expect a lot from this device if you are using it outside the home. I would only use it to listen to music. There is a lot of potental with this device. Don't expect a clear screen or a glass top touch screen. However expect a device that might just surprise you. I would suggest if you want speakers or a camera to look at their larger screens. The 28 still works as a good mp3 player and as a home automation remote!

ASUS Transformer Prime TF201-B1-GR Eee Pad 10.1-Inch 32GB Tablet by ASUS

The Current Best Tablet, Bar None
By H. Wang (Boston, MA USA)

I've extensively used a lot of tablets, due to both longtime interest in mobile technology, and my line of work. To give you an idea of my frame of reference, I've either owned or used the following tablets: Ipad 2 (owned), HP Touchpad (owned - 2011 firesale!), Motorola Xoom / Galaxy Tab 10.1, LG G, original Asus Transformer (work). Heck, I've owned the following Windows Mobile / PocketPC devices from back in the day - HP Jornada, Toshiba e800. My phone is the iPhone 4.

With that said, this is one of the best tech gadget I've ever owned. The unanimous rave industry reviews (and it looks like very positive end user reviews) aren't wrong.

* BUILD AND FORM FACTOR: evocative of but actually feels higher quality than the Ipad 2 and Macbook Air, which is a minor miracle at this price point. Beautifully machined aluminum, minimalist but not cold. The resolution of the screen is the best out of any current tablet, and can be crazily bright enough that it is useable outdoors in sunlight. It's definitely a fingerprint magnet though.

* COLOR - for those deciding between the gray or champagne, I received the champagne, and I actually called to confirm that I received the right one. It's much more silver than gold, it's basically silver aluminum with some gold highlights when the light catches it the right way. This is *exactly* what I wanted - it's reminiscent of the classic aluminum MacBook Pros, but with a touch of warmth from the gold. In short - it's not very gold at all.

* PROCESSOR - the Tegra 3 quad core processor is noticeably snappy, making the whole experience (even with Honeycomb) feel next gen. I've been getting great battery life, ~ 10-12 hours of normal mixed used, on balanced setting. With the dock, you're at 18+ hours. The NVIDIA fifth "stealth core" does its job seamlessly. It just works. For a quad core tablet with blazing power, this is again pretty mind-bending and next-gen. Is a quad core necessary? Strictly speaking, no. The Tegra 2 / OMAP / Snapdragon tablets do just fine, for the most part (although the un-overclocked Touchpad is noticeably slow), but every non ipad tablet lagged behind the iPad 2 in terms of real world performance (opening menus, browsing, launching apps). This isn't because Apple's processor is faster, but rather because if the sheer level of optimization between Apple hardware and software, which is industry-leading. With the Tegra 3 processor, though, this is the first non Apple tablet that both objectively is, and also noticeably feels, faster, more responsive, and more powerful than the iPad 2. It just brute forces past all of the Apple optimizations. For me, that is huge, especially if I'm going to be spending over $400 on something. Slowly but surely, more and more apps are optimizing for quad core (especially games), but even without that, I'd get a quad core for the general performance benefits alone, as it translates across every app.

* OS / SW - I really like the iOS UI for phones, it's simple yet powerful, but for a tablet it's always just felt incredibly limiting / frustrating / slightly condescending. I even prefer WebOS to it. Android Honeycomb is a nice balance between power, customization and being relatively easy to pick up, just perfect for the tablet form factor. My 2 year old toddler figured out how to use it in about 20 seconds (similar to WebOS and iOS). That being said, I'm looking forward to ICS, which should make things even more stable (HC still crashes occasionally)and uniform. The fact that the Prime gets an ICS in a month or two is fantastic. The pre-loaded Asus apps are relatively minimal and unobtrusive, and some actually are quite nice, such as the Asus cloud. Polaris Office is solid. The Android Market could be improved though, especially in terms of sorting and organization. Finding the right app can be a bit of a crapshoot.

CONS: Basically the same nits as others have pointed out.

* SPEAKER: the rear-facing speaker placement is a bit dumb, because it gets covered up relatively easily by your hands or when you set it down. However, you can still hear it even if it's completely covered, it's pretty loud, and it's located where the tablet tapers inwards so it doesn't get completely covered by a flat surface when setting it down. I don't mind the lack of a second speaker per se, as you hardly get stereo sound from any of the other tablets that have two speakers. I would say the sound quality of the Prime is on par with any other tablet, but it is just a bit easier to muffle. A jawbone jambox bluetooth speaker or the like works beautifully to supplement this tablet. It's certainly not needed, but it's a nice addition.

* CHARGER - the proprietary charger really annoys me. Until Asus comes out with more accessories, I'm basically stuck with using my one charging cord. Even charging via the dock requires the proprietary connector. It's not worth deducting a star for (at least for me), because it's more of an annoyance in light of how great the rest of the device is, but sheesh.

* PRODUCT LAUNCH - for a $21 billion company of 110,000+ employees, Asus still can't do a good product launch to save its life. This doesn't detract from the end product per se, but it's worth mentioning because so many pre-orders (on Amazon and elsewhere) were bungled or delayed. Asus is starting to consistently put out really great products, but in order to get to the "next level"(Sony, Apple etc.) in the eyes of the average consumer, they're going to really need to work on marketing and sales execution.

OVERALL: this thing is pretty ingenious, especially with the accessory dock / keyboard. Hopefully a harbinger of good things to come in the Android tablet space.

Amazing for such a low priced tablet!
By Kristofer Brozio "dracos" (Pittsburgh)

The Le Pan TC970 is an excellent Android tablet, I am honestly thrilled with it. It's extremely responsive, never once did I have an issue with it slowing down no matter how many other things were going on. I'm thoroughly enjoying the TC970, and I think you will as well.

Aesthetically the TC970 is very pleasing and stylish looking, it's also thin and lightweight. The build quality is excellent, it's a solidly made tablet on par with those much more expensive.

I've had the pleasure of testing both the Motorola Xoom and the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and I have to say I like the Le Pan TC970 much better overall. The TC970 doesn't have a Tegra in it but from what I've seen it doesn't need it, it's more than capable a handling anything you can throw at it in terms of apps, games or videos or anything else. I was truly surprised that the 1Ghz CPU could handle everything I threw at it.

The most surprising or actually amazing thing is the battery life, no joke here I got over eight hours use while doing a mixture of playing games and browsing the web. I even left I on just sitting and overnight and still had battery left to use it.

The TC970 isn't without its problems though, but they're small and not deal breakers. I don't care for the Apple-like USB connection at all, I would have rather seen a standard micro-USB or even mini-USB connector. The screen is very glossy causing reflections in the correct light and after a few hours of use you'll find the accumulated fingerprints very annoying.

The built-in memory is rather small, yes you can put a larger microSD card in it but I would also like to see more built-in memory.

The build quality is excellent, but the back is rather slippery honestly, I would have liked it to be more rubberized of textured for a better grip.

The other small issue the limited video support, it can't play basic WMV or Divx files.

Yes it's running Android 2.2, some people might think that's old and ask why not Gingerbread or Honeycomb. I thought the same thing so I asked them and they told me to expect an update last quarter of 2011 with Ice Cream Sandwich, they told me they decided to skip Gingerbread and Honeycomb and wait until the next major Android release.

The camera shows things mirrored or backwards, a major update is supposed to be released any day now to fix it. I got no real explanation as to why the camera was that way in the first place though.

The pros and cons are listed below and it might look like a lot of cons but they're small, and not exactly bad things really.

Lastly I should mention the price, it's very low for a tablet of this caliber and quality. It's nice to see something this nice at a low price.

Pros:
+Amazing battery life
+Very responsive touch screen
+Does work in bright light
+Fast and responsive overall
+Low price compared to other tablets
+Simple to use
+Excellent design and construction
+Aesthetically pleasing
+Viewing from most any angle

Cons:
-Proprietary connector
-Screen attracts fingerprints
-Glossy screen
-Small built-in memory
-Back is rather slippery
-Can't use in direct sunlight
-Limited video formats
-Camera is backwards
